Our First Contest Winner…

I’m finally back from my 11 day vacation in Bali and Lombok in Indonesia, will make a post about that later. In the meantime, I have reviewed the video submitted by our first winner Marcello from Brazil.

Here’s Part 1 of the Video. Part 2 will be uploaded later on.

Great analysis! I enjoyed the video alot!

I am struggling with some marginal spots from transitioning from full ring to 6 max zoom 25NL.

You mentioned that your default range UTG is any pocket and 8Ts+, I’m just wondering how you deal with someone who makes a move on dealer/sb/bb and 3-bet you when you have KJo KQo 22-66, hands similar like these. I find that playing OOP by calling is very bad here, but I am not sure, and with low pockets, if your opponent is making an move on you, even if you hit your set, you won’t get paid, and most of the time, you will not. As well, KQ KJ are dominated by AQ AK AJ. So my question is, should I call a 3-bet with a hand such as KQo KJo 22-66 UTG?

Another spot is whenever I have hands like A2o-A9o 22-66 KQo KJo on button after someone opened from UTG-CO, should I call, 3-bet or fold in these situations? I find calling is very weak as it allows SB and BB more odds to call, therefore decreasing your chance of winning the hand, but by 3-betting, your hands are dominated by alot and might get reverse-implied odds alot.

Sorry, one last question, whenever I get Ax or KQo hands like this in BB or SB, I’m 3-betting almost 100% of the time right now because of A blocker, is this the right play? I don’t have much stats on 6max players right now but this seems to be working for me.

My VPIP is 23 with PFR 17 and 3BET 10, are these stats ok for 6max 25NL?

Please give me some feedback, thank you so so much.

    1. This question is very vague. It really depends on his frequencies as well as his raise size. The larger his raise size, the less you can defend. If the raise size gets too large up to a certain point, you should probably eliminate your calling range altogether.

Example: 3->8 – You can probably call most pocket pairs, 3->10 – you should fold 22-66 for sure.

    2. I would fold the weak Aces, usually call the pocket pairs, and KQo/KJo highly depends on his open raise frequency and raise size.

    3. Another vague question here – Can’t answer it without further details. I use a polarized 3bet range and I would usually flat those hands if the raise size and frequency is high enough.

Example: BU opens to 2.5BB – I’m calling all AX in BB.
Example 2: UTG opens to 2.5BB – A8o is too weak to call, and too weak to 3bet.

Great advices! thank you so much for your reply!

Is your regular session still 500NL and 1000NL zoom? It seems that there are rarely people playing 1000NL zoom atm. How have you been doing this year?
